1966 Chevelle
The first few pictures illustrate what can happen when an engine is not built right. When I got this engine, it had been built by a "professional engine builder" in Raleigh, NC. There were not only discrepancies in what the owner had been told was in the engine but it took 2 years to complete the job. When I got the engine, pistons were hitting the valves, the cam was installed wrong, center line was too aggressive for his car, push rod length was wrong, and rocker arms were not in alignment. Due to all these issues as well as the engine balancing, the customer couldn't turn the engine past 3000 RPM's.
In order to correct these issues, we cut the dome off the piston plus another .0085 to ensure piston/valve clearance.
The customer is now happy and my cost was less than half of what he spent in Raleigh and I had him in and out in 3 weeks. No brag, just facts!!!
- Built and installed balanced big block engine
- Correct clearance between piston/valve
